Further complicating matters for Colgan, he has gained a lot of precincts that he has not previously represented in eastern Prince William County (some of the district now reaches east of U.S. 1 nearly to the Potomac River) where the population is more transient due to the presence of military families as well as a lot of new development, so a large swath of voters will have never even heard of him before in what will be a very low-turnout election.  Add to this Colgan’s war chest only stood at $27,485 as of June 30th and you’ve got a recipe brewing for an upset.

In Gordy, Republicans have nominated a candidate with solid communications and legislative experience who can appeal to the large military and veteran population in the district.  This race is one to watch, folks!
