Taiwan`s Wholesale, Retail, and F&B Sales Hit 2nd Monthly High of NT$1.2145 ...

Taipei, Aug. 1, 2011 (CENS)--Taiwan`s wholesale, retail and F&B sectors generated combined revenues of NT$1.2145 trillion (US$40.48 billion) in June, the second monthly high for an annual growth of 5.25%, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA).

Huang Chi-shih, director general at the Statistics Department, says the average temperature in June reached 28.33 Centigrade, with the simmering heat boosting purchase of air conditioners, electric fans and cold drinks.

During the month the F&B sector scored revenues of NT$31.1 billion (US$1.04 billion), the fourth highest and up by 8.8% from that of last year. Beverage stores alone enjoyed monthly rise of 5.39% or annual rise of 3.89% to NT$3.358 billion (US$111.93 million) in sales.

In the same month the retail sector raked in revenues of NT$301.9 billion (US$10.06 billion), the fifth highest and up 6.24% from that of a year earlier. The information, telecommunication, and home appliances sectors witnessed the highest growth of 11.97%, followed by 10.45% for the automobile, motorcycle and related parts sectors and 7.78% for general consumer products.

In June the number of new licensed auto vehicles totaled 32,418 and that of motorcycle 60,000.

During the month the wholesale sector witnessed the highest monthly revenues of NT$881.5 billion (US$29.38 billion) for an annual rise of 4.8%, with auto, motorcycle & related parts seeing the highest growth of 11.54%.

In the first half the combined revenues of the three sectors totaled NT$7.0175 trillion (US$233.92 billion) for an annual growth of 6.65%.
