Edgemont Post Office offers special postmark
100th Anniversary of the Fall River County Fair Celebrated
EDGEMONT - On Friday, Aug. 5, the Edgemont Post Office will offer a special commemorative postmark celebrating 100 years of the Fall River County Fair.
The collectible postmark will be available 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Fairgrounds Exhibit Building. Stamps and specially designed postcards will be available for purchase. The Postal Service will also accept letters and packages for mailing during this event.
"Commemorative postmarks are a great, inexpensive way to remember the important people, places and events in our lives," says Edgemont Postmaster Marcia Kenobbie. "I encourage anyone with fond memories of our Fall River County Fair to stop in and see us on Aug. 5."
This special postmark is a must-have.
Can't make it to the Edgemont Post Office on Aug. 5?
The postmark is also available for 30 days after that date by mail.
To request by mail, affix first-class postage to an envelope or postcard of your choice, using any stamps that were issued before Aug. 5.

The postmark art was created by Doug Ebert. This postmark will be available starting Aug. 6 at the post office. Ebert and postmaster, Bob Madden, will staff a table at the Bicentennial from 12:30 to 3 pm on Saturday afternoon as well.

Oregon state flag is featured in latest Forever stamp | Oregon News
The United States Postal Service has issued the latest Forever stamps in the Flags of Our Nation series today, which includes the Oregon state flag.
Salem Postmaster Brad Bender and Secretary of State Kate Brown unveiled a large version of the Oregon stamp in the Galleria at the State Capitol.
“It’s a gorgeous stamp,” Bender said.
The ceremony included the Oregon State Police Honor Guard and historical readings by members of the teen Interpreter Program from Willamette Heritage Center.
Michael Fernandez played the role of 1924 Portland Postmaster John M. Jones. “It was great to come out and be here,” Fernandez said, adding that it is a great time for people to learn about Oregon’s history.
The stamps are on sale in post offices nation wide, but a special Salem postmark celebrating the stamps’ issuance is available today at Salem’s Main Post Office at 1050 25th St. SE with the purchase of the new Forever stamps. The new stamps cost $22 for a roll of 50.
The series also features the flags of the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, as well as the states of Ohio,
Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota and Tennessee.
